Cloning and Characterization of a Lentinula edodes Class II Chitin Synthase Gene, LeChs2

A genomic DNA sequence and cDNA encoding a putative chitin synthase were isolated from the white rot basidiomycete Lentinula edodes. The gene, named LeChs2, consists of a 2,598-bp open reading frame interrupted by 14 introns and encodes a putative protein of 866 amino acid residues. The data obtaine...

Summary:A genomic DNA sequence and cDNA encoding a putative chitin synthase were isolated from the white rot basidiomycete Lentinula edodes. The gene, named LeChs2, consists of a 2,598-bp open reading frame interrupted by 14 introns and encodes a putative protein of 866 amino acid residues. The data obtained in this study suggest that LeChs2 belongs to the class II chitin synthases.
