Bibliography:Neuropeptide Y (neuropeptide Y,NPY) is an important factor that promotes obesity that widely distributes in central and perpheral nervous system, thus making it a target for the development of drugs to lose weight. Although most researches have been focusing on its role in stimulating appetite,more and more evidence demonstrated that NPY regulates energy metabolism in many ways. Central and peripheral NPY can promote the storage of brown adipose tissue (BAT), which finally lead to obesity. This review summarizes distributions of NPY and its role in the development of ohesily both centrally and peripherally.
