Bibliography:Cotton seed oil is one of the major edible vegetable oils in China, especially in the main cotton producing areas. With the rapid development of oil processing technology, the consumption of cotton seed oil has increased swiftly. This paper expounded the production, consumption, detoxification of gossypol and quality safety status of edible cotton seed oil in China. The paper also put forward the important significances in correctly understanding the edible value of cotton seed oil, safely consuming cotton seed oil, steadily increasing its self-sufficient rate, ensuring the safety of consuming vegetable oils, and guaranteeing consumers＇ health in China.
