In hepatitis B virus( HBV) infection,TIM- 3 acts as a negative immune regulatory molecule and its expression on CD8+T cells increases markedly. It indicates that TIM- 3 is closely related to the pathogenic mechanism of HBV infection. The latest research progress in TIM- 3 and HBV infection,including the biological characteristics of TIM- 3 and the outcomes and new therapeutic target of HBV infection,is reviewed and summarized.
