Summary:The corrosion performance of one-side Precoated steels for automotive body was investigated and new precoated steel suitable for exterior panel use was evaluated by several kinds of corrosion testing. Ni-Zn alloy electroplated steel may be more effective for insufficiently painted portion. Application of Fe-Zn alloy plated steel may provide effective corrosion resistance of portions where paint film may sufficiently applied. Electroplating Fe-rich Fe-Zn alloy as outer layer provides superior paint adhesion. Finally summary of our philosophy in terms of corrosion performance of precoated steel is depicted.
