Abstract_FL Relationship of chemical components and aroma components of flue-cured tobacco in different planting density and nitrogen fertilizer application was investigated by correlation analysis, path analysis, regression analysis in two-factor split plot experiment with the material of Yunyan 87.The results showed that the aroma components existed extremely significant posi-tive correlation with the ratio of total nitrogen to nicotine, while there were significant or extremely significant negative correlation with the ratio of potassium to chlorine.The effects of nicotine, potassium, chlorine contents and the ratio of potassium to chlorine on neophytadiene proportion were mainly direct, while total nitrogen contents existed mainly indirect effects on neophytadiene pro-portion, the total sugar, reducing sugar contents, the ratios of reducing sugar to nicotine and the ratios of total nitrogen to nicotine not only existed intense influence on neophytadiene content, but also assisted the other chemical components to reinforce their in-direct influence.The ratios of total nitrogen to nicotine, total nitrogen, potassium, reducing sugar contents and aroma amount ( ex-cept neophytadiene content ) depended mainly on the direct impacts, while the impact on the nicotine and total sugar contents and aroma amount ( except neophytadiene content ) were mainly indirect.The ratios of reducing sugar to nicotine, the ratios of potassi-um to chlorine, chlorine content and aroma amount were affected by direct and indirect effects together.
