Bibliography:Areca（Areca catechu L.） is the plant from Palmea,Areca genus with the efficacy of expelling parasite,removing food retention,following water,lowing gas and preventing malaria.It is one of four south medicines and the second largest in economical crops in Hainan,province.Meanwhile,areca industry is the second largest pillar industry in Hainan tropical crops and essential for Hainan agricultural economic.The biological property of areca,the development of areca planting industry and the analysis of its motivation in Hainan were described in the paper.The developments of traffic industry,areca processing industry,tourist industry and south medicine industry were the main motivations for the development of areca planting industry quickly and continuously.
