The author studied the growth potential of urban and rural space from the ecological perspective of ＂anti -planning＂, classified the factors that affected the growth and development of the space, further analyzed the influences of these factors on the eco- logical space, agricultural production space, non -agricultural industrial space and living space in urban and rural areas, and then e- valuated the growth potential of different types of space, for the purpose of guiding the urban sustainable development distribution.
