LZ50 railway axle steel were carried out to study the effects of contact stress on rotating bending fretting fatigue life under different press-fit contact stresses. Optical microscope (OM) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to analyze the press-fit fretting damage surfaces and fracture surfaces, respectively. The results show that the rotating bending fretting fatigue life of the LZ50 present a nonliner feature, decrease with the increase of contact stress firstly, and then increase. It is due to the combination of the complex multiaxial stress of sample, contact stress between contact interfaces, fretting frication stress and the interaction between fretting wear and fretting fatigue.
