Bibliography: | Rickettsia are sorts of negative-grambacteria of the Rickettsiaceae belonging to the α- Proteobacteria and the morphologically diverse secondary endosymbionts in eukaryotic cells. Rickettsia can be nutritional symbiont in some insects, but be reproduction manipulators in other insects, or as a kind of plant pathogenic bacteria in insects. Moreover, Rickettsia showed many host phenotypes in insect, such as enhancing insecticide resistance, natural enemy resistance, high temperature tolerance and so on. This review mainly focused on the research advances of Rickettsia in insect, including origins, diversity classification, distribution and transmission pathways, reproductive manipulation and genome evolution. Furthermore, we emphasized some controversial subjects and suggested ways in which study of nonpathogenic Rickettsia can advance our understanding of their relatives between Rickettsia and insects. 44-1640/Q Rickettsia ; transmission ; distribution ; reproduction manipulate ; genome evolution ZHANG Jing1,2, Z |
