Fluorometric Determination of Pyridoxal and its 5′-Phosphate in Biological Materials

A method of fluorometric determination of Pyridoxal and pyridoxal phosphate in biological materials was described. Samples were deproteinized with trichloroacetic acid, and pyridoxal was separated and concentrated by Dowex 1×8 and Amberlite CG 120 column treatment, treated with KCN at pH 7.5 and the...

Summary:A method of fluorometric determination of Pyridoxal and pyridoxal phosphate in biological materials was described. Samples were deproteinized with trichloroacetic acid, and pyridoxal was separated and concentrated by Dowex 1×8 and Amberlite CG 120 column treatment, treated with KCN at pH 7.5 and the fluorescence intensity was measured at pH 10. Pyridoxal phosphate was determined as pyridoxal after hydrolysis by acid phosphatase.
