Summary:Solitary fibrous tumour (SFT) is an uncommon neoplasm of mesenchymal origin that primarily affects the pleura and mediastinum. SFTs may occur elsewhere in the body including the liver, peritoneum, orbit and other soft tissues. Recent advances in immunohistochemical analysis have allowed greater identification of SFTs. Nevertheless, radiologically it remains difficult to distinguish SFTs of the liver from other solitary tumours as they have many common features. We report a case of SFT of the liver and highlight the potential inaccuracy of percutaneous biopsy in the diagnosis of large solitary liver tumours.
