Pathogenesis of obstructive sleep apnoea/hypopnoea syndrome

Sleep apnea, which may be as big a public health hazard as smoking, is discussed. The effect of sleep on the upper airway, the effects of upper airway narrowing and the clinical effects of sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome are outlined.
