Summary:Furazanobenzothiadiazole and related compounds were prepared by a new synthetic route starting from 4, 7-dibromo-5-nitrobenzo-2, 1, 3-thiadiazole, which was obtained in good yield by nitration of 4, 7-dibromobenzo-2, 1, 3-thiadiazole easily acessible. Some chemical reactions of this tricyclic ring system-ring opening reaction, photo-cleavage reaction, bromination and reduction-were discussed.
