Highlights • We included 8,874 pregnant women in model. Of the participants, 204 participants had gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).. • In this study, we used three components of PCA as indexes of social capital.. • Our study showed that the index of social capital for relatives and neighbors (adjusted OR: 0.860, 95% CI: 0.763, 0.969) was significantly and independently associated with the onset of GDM.
