Summary: | [...]very recently, the only available data on long-term outcomes after alcohol septal ablation were derived from single-center studies. Because the registry does not report the cause of death, it is impossible to determine whether there was an excess of heart failure deaths after alcohol ablation, but it seems inconceivable that extensive loss of myocardium is conducive to preservation of systolic performance in the long term and once again suggests that the use of gradient reduction in the catheter laboratory as an index of success endangers patients. |
