Summary:In April 2020, Congress appropriated $1.5 billion to the NIH to increase national testing capacity for SARS-CoV-2. The NIH established the Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics program to support the development and deployment of accurate, rapid tests. Among the goals of RADx is to increase capacity to enable testing of approximately 2% of the U.S. population (6 million persons) per day by December 2020.
