Summary: | Pandemic influenza would have severe implications for public health, economic security, food safety, and wildlife conservation.\n These genotypes in surface proteins do not correlate statistically or visually to host use by H5N1 as determined by our character mapping approaches, despite the experimentally indicated roles in mediating the efficacy and specificity of viral surface proteins with receptors on various host cells (Stevens, 2006; Chen, 2006). Genomic sequencing of key Avian Influenza isolates was funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergic and Infectious diseases, and performed at the Institute for Genomic Research. |
