Summary:The development of technology in hardware and software products has greatly affected close range photogrammetry in that some studies can be made more economically, more accurately, and faster. Close range photogrammetry can also be applied to different disciplines. In this study, the use of digital close range photogrammetry was investigated in terms of the volume calculation of a natural hill. The calculation was achieved by both classical and photogrammetric methods. It was seen that the photogrammetric method requires less manpower to complete the work in the field. It is considerably easier to measure the points on the images than in the field. Therefore, many points can be obtained in very short time and the object’s surface can be better defined. Furthermore, the photogrammetric method has the advantage in the case where the points to be measured are located in high-risk areas. Future work on this subject will focus on the comparison of the photogrammetric method with high-technology equipment, which, despite being costly, reduces the time spent in measurement.
