Summary: | •Kinetic Impact Projectiles (KIPs) are a Less Lethal option available to law enforcement officers.•These projectiles can produce blunt trauma at impact sites, which can range from mild to fatal.•Expert physicians reviewed KIP uses and rated injury severity as mild, moderate, or severe, and tracked all KIP uses.•Among 33 KIP uses, 32 subjects (97%) had mild or no injuries; one moderate injury (3%) requiring hospitalization occurred; there were no severe injuries or fatalities.•These data suggest that the overall significant injury rate after KIP use is low. |
