Summary: | Parotid saliva of man can be measured exactly by a suction cup method and the experiment of conditioned reflex in man can be easily carried out by a course of duration of 21-60 minutes every other days. Artificial conditioned reflex will be established by Pavlov's method in man, quite as the same way as in dogs, notwithstanding man has resting saliva. Resting saliva can not be detected from the permanent fistula opened outside of dog's cheek, while dogs have resting saliva when a suction cup is attached on the orifice of parotid gland. It was verified by experiments with dog that the resting saliva was a reflex saliva, of which receptor stimulation must be a special mechanical stimulus by the attachment of a suction cup, and of which reflex centre was located at the gyrus coronarius, which corresponded to the face area of the anterior central gyrus in human cerebral cortex. |
