Summary: | There is no one "right" set of basic assumptions for all organizations. The issue for senior management, then, is not choosing the "correct" basic assumption but identifying those that will promote the most successful organizational performance, and either maintaining them if they already exist or moving the form toward adopting them if they do not. To transform a culture at the level of basic assumptions requires addressing some of the fundamental ways the firm operates - the "cultural levers." Not only are these levers important tools for senior management to employ, but all 6 must be used consistently to mutually reinforce each other. |
