Summary: | Lassa fever is considered to be a highly contagious disease with remarkable mortality. Nosocomial outbreaks have been described in Africa. The Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization recommend very strict isolation and surveillance measures for suspected Lassa fever patients and their contacts. This is a report of a patient with Lassa fever who was not diagnosed initially and therefore not isolated. Nevertheless, there was no clinical evidence of secondary infection among contacts, and no seroconversion occurred in 30 of them. |
