Summary:This paper was originally written for a presentation at the first Elsevier Electronic Subscriptions (EES) user conference in October 1996. This paper focuses on the workflow for electronic publications in a national library such as the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB). After a discussion of this workflow, including a comparative analysis with the workflow for printed publications and differences between the two workflows, the content loading for electronic journals is presented in greater depth. The two systems that the KB is currently using for electronic journals are compared. Right Pages from AT&T is used for deposit of Elsevier content and ICL Commands from ICL is used for deposit of Kluwer Academic content. Hardware, software, and present status are shown. KB experiences are summarized, with information on loading, quality issues, storage, and retrieval. The paper ends with some future activities of the KB in this area.
