Lack of association of SLC1A1 variants with schizophrenia in Chinese Han population

Abstract In this study, we analyzed four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs10491734, rs2228622, rs301430 and rs301443) of the solute carrier family 1 gene ( SLC1A1 ) in a set of 616 schizophrenia patients and 638 matched healthy controls of Han Chinese descent. No significant differences of...

Summary:Abstract In this study, we analyzed four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs10491734, rs2228622, rs301430 and rs301443) of the solute carrier family 1 gene ( SLC1A1 ) in a set of 616 schizophrenia patients and 638 matched healthy controls of Han Chinese descent. No significant differences of genotype or allele distribution were identified between the patients and controls. Our data suggest that SLC1A1 is unlikely to be a major susceptibility gene for schizophrenia in Han Chinese.
