Summary: | Blood gas analysis revealed a pH of 7.24 and an arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) of 69.3 mmHg [Supplementary Figure 1, http://links.lww.com/CM9/B279]. [...]a left varicocelectomy surgery was performed under a microscope, abandoning the right side. To prevent hypothermic cardiac arrest, we administered a slow drip from the internal jugular vein, which has proved to be very effective in reducing the patient's core temperature. Subsequently, the patient presented with signs of myocardial injury, which manifested as abnormal ECG and elevated CK-MB and brain natriuretic peptide (116 pg/mL); a short-term decrease in renal function, which manifested as a slight increase in Cr of 102.3 μmol/L over a short period of time [Supplementary Table 1, http://links.lww.com/CM9/B279]; and the sequelae of rhabdomyolysis that persisted until discharge, which decreased |
