Effect of the “Race Across The Alps” in elite cyclists on plasma cardiac troponins I and T

The present study provides biochemical evidence that exceptional cardiovascular strain associated with competitive ultramarathon cycling can induce subclinical myocardial damage even in the world's bets ultraendurance athletes. The clinical meaing of this finding remains to be elucidated.
