Summary:And the film prize goes to…︁ octathio[8]circulene (2; see graphic), which, in contrast to the significant tub‐shaped distortion observed for tetrathiophene (1), has a very planar structure in which the structural distortion caused by the 8π antiaromaticity is released. Reflecting the planar molecular structure, 2 forms lamellar thin films. The molecular and crystal structures of 1 and 2 were accurately determined by X‐ray single‐crystal analysis.
