Summary:Abstract Latterly, instant messaging applications met a growing popularity in both private and professional sectors. Permitting a safe, economical, effective communication tool and optimizing team data transmissions. However, in light of recent American scandals (Snowden case...) and as these applications use different encryption systems; optimal security and data privacy can’t constantly be guaranteed, thus constituting a prohibitive element in the medical field. Here, we illustrate our experience as the Amiens university hospital plastic surgery team using this type of application for medical transmissions. Featuring our 3-year trail including the software features, possibilities and the enhancement it brings in our everyday practice.
