Pore-size control in the sol-gel synthesis of mesoporous silicon carbide

A method to control the specific surface area and pore size of mesoporous SiC by employing different amounts of nickel nitrate in the sol-gel process is proposed. Summary:A method to control the specific surface area and pore size of mesoporous SiC by employing different amounts of nickel nitrate in the sol-gel process is proposed. A series of SiC samples were synthesised employing different concentrations of nickel, and their morphologies were examined. The key part of the method is to aggregate the primary colloidal particles using a suitable amount of nickel nitrate. 21 refs.
