Synthesis of architecturally well-defined nanogels via RAFT polymerization for potential bioapplications
Nanogel synthesis by RAFT polymerization is an emerging field for the control of architectures and functions of polymeric nanomaterials for bioapplications. In this Feature Article, we review the recent development in nanogel synthesis using preformed RAFT polymers and by direct RAFT polymerizations...

Bibliography: | Zesheng An obtained his PhD in 2005 from Georgia Institute of Technology with Prof. Seth R. Marder. From 2005 to 2008, he did his postdoctoral research at the University of California, Santa Barbara with Prof. Galen D. Stucky and Prof. Craig J. Hawker. In 2008, he joined the Institute of Nanochemistry and Nanobiology, Shanghai University, where he is now a Professor of Special Appointment (Eastern Scholar) at Shanghai Institutions of Higher Learning. His current research interests include the design and synthesis of polymers using controlled polymerizations, heterogeneous polymerizations and the application of well-defined polymers in nanomedicine. Guangyao Liu obtained his bachelor degree in 2009 from Taishan Medical College. Since September 2009, he has been a graduate student working with Prof. Zesheng An at Shanghai University. His research is focused on the design and synthesis of nanogels in water by RAFT and their use in nanomedicine. Qian Qiu obtained her bachelor degree in 2009 from Qingdao Agricultural University. She is now a graduate student at Shanghai University working with Prof. Zesheng An on the design and synthesis of polymers in heterogeneous systems.
