Summary:In order to investigate the reactivity of 9-phenylselenoxanthylium perchlorate (III), reaction of III and various nucleophiles have been examined. Theoretical consideration on the chemical reactivities of III in the electrophilic and nucleophilic reactions has been discussed, together with the reaction indices calculated from the ω-technique for 9-phenylxanthylium salt (I), 9-phenylthioxanthylium salt (II), and III.
