Summary:We present the results of measurements taken with the newly constructed PASTIS coil set insert, which uses a wide-angle “banana” 3He neutron spin-filter cell to cover a large range of scattering angles. The neutron polarization direction is freely rotatable to allow 3-directional (XYZ) polarization analysis and the coil set is designed to fit within the sample areas of most of the spectrometers at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble. No significant depolarization due to the repeated spin rotations is observed. The PASTIS insert is now available for use on selected instruments at the ILL. This will enable XYZ neutron polarization analysis studies to be implemented on the majority of public ILL instruments.
