Summary: | The agenda for SVS 2015 was very distinctive and included two opening plenary sessions that featured six keynote speakers covering unique topics ranging from an introductory lecture on immunization/vaccination, to an overview of skin and the mechanisms that regulate recognition and immune responses, to understanding the omics of these responses, to deciphering the nuances of parenteral routes, to a better understanding of current and novel delivery technologies, and finally a talk that highlighted the public health impact of skin immunization and the challenges of making these technologies available for public use. Using Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) as a model, Courtney Jarrahian and her colleagues evaluated various ID delivery devices ranging from staked (fixed) needles, to Luer-Slip devices (including needles and microneedles) as well as various jet injection systems for dead space, wastage and dose accuracy [21]. |
