Summary:Uralian ultrapure quartz is a world-class raw-material source for making transparent quartz glass with unique properties: total content of all impurity elements (Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Ti, Li, B, Cr, Ni, Mn, Cu) in the beneficiated quartz concentrates does not exceed 10 ppm and the total content of alkali elements (Na, Li, K) is in the range 0.37 – 0.94 ppm. Such metrics are achieved thanks to the natural features of quartz of metamorphogenic-metasomatic genesis and the beneficiation schemes developed for it. Resources of this kind are concentrated within the Kyshtym deposit of granular quartz in the Urals.
