Summary: | Suction collection units generate contaminating aerosols and contain materials that may contaminate patients and patient care areas. The use of bacterial filters with suction collection units will reduce the transmission of the contaminating aerosols. The removal of unopened suction collection units from patient care area to nonpatient care areas for final disposition by carefully trained personnel will reduce the likelihood of transmission of the contained contaminated materials. |
