Interaction of electron beams with an oxygen exposed polycrystalline aluminium surface
Measurements of the changes in the 67 eV metallic aluminium, 54 eV oxidized aluminium cross transition and 505 eV oxygen Auger transition signals as a function of electron irradiation have been performed on an oxidized polycrystalline aluminium sample for beam doses up to 5 C/cm 2 with an electron b...

2 with an electron beam energy of 1.5 keV. A decrease in the overall oxide and oxygen content of the surface has been observed as a consequence of electron irradiation. It is proposed that the predominant process occurring causing the change is “Coulomb explosion” decomposition and desorption. |
