Aldol condensation in water using polyethylene glycol 400

Efficient and environmentally friendly synthesis of chalcones and 2,6-bis(arylmethylidene)cycloalkanones was carried out by aldol condensation of ketones with aromatic aldchydes in water in the presence of polyethylene glycol 400.
