Identification of orthorhombic phase in a high-strength cupronickel

The predominant micron-scale phase in MARINEL has been identified as having an orthorhombic crystal structure, space group Cmcm and lattice parameters a = 0.80 nm, b = 0.46 nm, c = 1.20 nm. The approximate composition of this phase is A 22B, where A is (Fe xNi y) and B is (Nb aSi b). This phase has...

Summary:The predominant micron-scale phase in MARINEL has been identified as having an orthorhombic crystal structure, space group Cmcm and lattice parameters a = 0.80 nm, b = 0.46 nm, c = 1.20 nm. The approximate composition of this phase is A 22B, where A is (Fe xNi y) and B is (Nb aSi b). This phase has been shown to be the ϵ phase seen in Incoloy alloy 909.
