Summary:Approximately 40% of patients are non‐adherent to their medications. A prospective study of 80 patients evaluated the effectiveness of medical student‐led pre‐discharge medication education sessions. A significantly greater proportion of patients in the intervention group were adherent to their regular medications at 1 month compared with the control group (76.3% compared to 60.3%, P = 0.037). Medical student‐led patient education significantly improved medication adherence rates.
