Summary:We report the case of a calcified angiomyolipoma of the kidney, fortuitously discovered on a computed tomography scan of the abdomen. Because of the presence of intratumoral calcification and macroscopic fat, renal cell carcinoma could not be ruled out by imaging. Biopsy of the mass was performed, and pathological study confirmed the diagnosis of angiomyolipoma. Biopsy of renal masses containing macroscopic fat and calcification may be considered before nephrectomy.
