Decline in the number of low-volume hospitals performing coronary angioplasty in California, 1989 to 1996
In California from 1989 to 1996, there were significant declines in the number of centers performing greater than or equal to 200 cases/year, the minimum established by practice guidelines. Consequently, only 8% of all patients were treated in low-volume hospitals in 1996.
