Aging effects on ERP correlates of emotional word discrimination

Highlights • Emotional word-elicited ERPs and behavioral indices were studied in young and elderly subjects. • Behavioral and ERP data indicated more efficient inhibitory mechanisms in the young. • Target-evoked LPC showed age-dependent P3b- and a P3a-like scalp distribution.
