An immunoendocrinological hypothesis of HIV infection

The effect of glucocorticoid production on HIV infection and the role of cytokines in the disease are explored. A possible therapeutic strategy involving the control of the cortisol/dehydroepiandrotestosterone sulfate ratio to reduce overproduction of type-2 cytokines is suggested.
