Summary:Highlights • Meniscus allograft transplantation is a feasible surgical option for the symptomatic meniscectomized knee. • Surgical techniques for meniscus allograft transplantation are divided by location into the “keyhole” technique for the lateral meniscus and “double bone plugs” techniques for the medial meniscus. • Various suture methods can be applied for meniscocapsular suturing in meniscus transplantation. • Meniscus signal changes after transplantation can be observed, but this requires differentiation from meniscus tearing. • Posttransplantation meniscus extrusion is a common finding and is related to the bone block location especially in lateral meniscus allograft transplantation. • Long-term clinical and radiological outcomes of graft extrusion after meniscus transplantation are not clear, and hence further investigations are required.
