Summary:In 1995 we conducted the first scientific expedition to investigate the status of southern right whales (Eubalaena australis) in the Auckland Islands. From 17 July to 9 August 1995 we conducted non-systematic small boat and shore-based surveys of right whales within Port Ross and surrounding areas (50 degree 32'S, 166 degree 15'E).
