Summary:This paper explores interconnections between values, theory and practice in psychotherapeutic interventions in women's health. A re-worked biopsychosocial approach is discussed. This draws on a material-discursive psychology that also affirms individual subjective experience. How such an approach translates to clinical practice is illustrated with reference to two clinical vignettes, one describing the process of formulation and the other the process of therapy.
