Impact of dry sliding wear parameters on the wear rate of A7075 based composites reinforced with ZrB2 particulates

The dry sliding wear behavior of A7075 based composites strengthened with particulates of ZrB2 was examined using the pin-on-disc device. The composites were synthesized by reinforcing different weight % (5, 10, and 15) of the ZrB2 using a stir casting technique followed by hot extrusion. The dry sl...

Summary:The dry sliding wear behavior of A7075 based composites strengthened with particulates of ZrB2 was examined using the pin-on-disc device. The composites were synthesized by reinforcing different weight % (5, 10, and 15) of the ZrB2 using a stir casting technique followed by hot extrusion. The dry sliding wear resistance is optimized under varying conditions of sliding velocity, sliding time, and load. The sample's worn-out surfaces were examined using scanning electron micrographs to obtain the composites' wear mechanism. Delamination, abrasion adhesive modes of deformation were observed. The wear parameters were optimized with Grey relational analysis (G.R.A.) and ANOVA techniques and obtained the optimal combination of input parameters.
