A dielectric resonator-based sensor for temperature measurement is demonstrated. A dielectric resonator is used as the key sensing element to transform the temperature signals to electromagnetic signals. The dielectric resonator can produce strong localized electromagnetic field at resonance. Both the numerical and experimental results demonstrated the sensor can measure temperature with a high sensitivity. As the temperature increases from 26.7 to 141.6 °C, the change of the resonance frequency is 672 MHz, showing a temperature sensitivity of 5.91 MHz/°C. In addition, due to the strong resonance and temperature-sensitive performance of the dielectric resonator, the temperature sensor has a simple structure, which is conductive to the integration of temperature sensors. |
