Summary:Linear friction welding (LFW) method is a solid-state manufacturing process. In the present study, GH4169 superalloy was welded using LFW method. Macro morphology and shortening of LFW GH4169 joints were investigated to understand the effect of welding variables on the geometric parameters such as joint shape and size. Detailed microstructural and mechanical property of the welded GH4169 material were investigated to understand the effect of welding variables on the microstructure as well as mechanical properties. Compared with the GH4169 raw material, the grains of the welded joints are refined, and the tensile strength of the joints under two sets of parameters is greater than that of the raw material.
